About

Hello! Welcome to Nelesc Designs. I am a woman of multiple narratives; Bronx DIY fashion designer, Puerto Rican, art/museum educator, artist, wife, mother of two special needs kids, and a lover of the God that created it all. It's all good and it's all me.

Here, you will find some of my DIY sewing tutorials, wardrobe refashions, Nelesc Designs shop news, and musings on special needs mothering. I enjoy color blocking and draping especially with sweatshirt and t-shirt material.

My etsy shop at www.nelesc.etsy.com, features my second love, screenprinting. There, you will find slighty reconstructed t-shirts with cultural icons screenprinted on each. People inspire me, I hope this collection inspires you too. I also offer  clothing and accessory patterns/tutorials there too.

This whole sewing and crafting journey began with my children. Both of my boys have autism; I went from being a museum educator, cultural writer, and art teacher to creating fashion from home. I love it and I have never looked back.  This is their gift to me. Sewing, crafting, printing (and having the most amazing supportive husband in the world), help me be a better mom to my beautiful boys.

Hope you enjoy the ride!

  5. It's lovely to have come across your blog as I share similar passions with my sewing and I also have special needs kids on the autism spectrum :) It's a tough road but it's our journey, and having a creative outlet such as this certainly helps :)
