Rocker T-Shirt Reconstruction

I absolutely LOVE doing t-shirt reconstructions! I'll never stop doing these, no matter how rich and famous I get, lol.  Here's my latest. 

I bought this t-shirt in Old Navy. I loved the words and guitar print combo, so cool! It wasn't particularly super big, it was just unflattering.

I decided to take it apart; the entire front, sleeves and all, from the entire back.

Then I cut it in this shape. I was intending to make a cowl neck line.

Here's the back shape. I used a self drafted pattern for this.

But then I thought "this is a rocker t-shirt, it needs a more dramatic transformation than just a cowl. I am a big fan of asymmetry so I looked in my leather stash and decided to add a patch on one side. I also folded the neckline into this asymmetrical shape and stitched it on the side.

I really love the way it came out. Since I truly believe in the transformative power of clothes, it's a special piece that can be saved for times when I don't feel like a rock star.

Update on Frida Kahlo Color Block Custom Order

Hello! Last Saturday I told you about this custom order I was working on.

Well, here it is! My client wanted it in blue and red. I really like the way it came out, very super heroish with this color combination.

T-Shirt Reconstruction from the Vault

I love this t-shirt reconstruction I made this past summer. I created a sweetheart neckline and added black stretchy fabric to fill in the shoulder area.

I thought it could be a mini-dress but it was way too short for me so I cut it and made it a top. I really love it.

T-Shirt Reconstruction: Small T-Shirt into Draped T-Shirt:



 I showed you this Evita black t-shirt back in 2008 in this post. It was a giant shirt I had made smaller. 

Well, low and behold, some time has passed since then, and now I have to make it bigger! it simply got too tight on me. I used a simple drape method to add to the sides.

Here it is now:

I love it! I wore it all summer. Tutorial to come next week!

Reconstruction from the Past

In keeping with my targeted posts, I am showing you one of my past t-shirt transformations that I never posted. I forgot who gave me this t-shirt but it was clearly too big. I added subtle flutter sleeves and a slit neckline.
